On 18 December, the ski-season on Vitosha Mountain was officially opened with a unique show. Skiers from the national ski demonstration team and children club Vitosha Ski performed a memorable spectacle on ski. Afterwards, all skiers participated in the first night skiing on the tracks of Vitosha Mountain.

“50% reduction for good mood” was the slogan which opened the new winter season in Borovets ski-resort. Skiers and snowboarders enjoyed well prepared tracks.

Economy Minister Traicho Traikov and his deputy Ivo Marinov opened winter season 2009-2010 in the ski-resort of Pamporovo. Resort managers hope to prolong the season as much as possibly using snow-producing machines. This year there are expectations for a rise of the number of tourists from Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro. The main reason is that citizens from these countries no longer need visas to travel to Bulgaria.
