One of the key music events in Sofia in 2009 was the Park Live Festival. Its success was repeated this year too, from June 18 to 20. The electronic music event chose an off-the-wall venue – Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport. The event opened with a 10-strong band with two female vocals, Groove Armada.

This was the first appearance of the popular band in Bulgaria. At the festival they presented their latest album Black Light. The audiences attended the first 3D disco party – everybody got special glasses to enjoy 3D effects. Other stars at Park Live 2010 included the creators of contemporary tango Gotan Project, drum-and-bass star Goldie and the famous British Trip Hop band Morcheeba.

Park Live Festival in Sofia saw Hungarian participation as well. DJ Cadik is party host of hip-hop and drum & bass events, as well as a producer. With his cooperation the organizers invited the Hungarians The Singas Project Band. In terms of Bulgarian musicians on the first night we heard Babyface Clan, an alternative band known in and outside Bulgaria – in Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Hungary and the Czech Republic. In 2009 Nasko Rouskov (vocalist and lyrics writer) and his colleagues gathered together again and after years of silence recorded some new compositions. Another band that appeared on 19 June at Sofia Airport was Bluba Lu, one of Bulgaria’s oldest underground bands founded by Dimitar Paskalev and Konstantin Katsarski. At Park Live 2010 the band presented its audio-visual project Quadrotopia. The first single from the eponymous CD entered the world chart by Gilles Peterson, on BBC Radio One, and fared quite well on the air of the British BFBS Radio.

The closing night of Park Live 2010 saw a concert of jazz singer Beloslava in the company of Zhivko Petrov (piano), Mitko Semov (percussions) and Tony Rikev (guitars). Listen to her with the song Afterwards.
