President Plevneliev comments assault against Ahmed Dogan

The attack against the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms Ahmed Dogan is not simply an assault against a political leader but an act of aggression against democratic values of our society and state. This is a statement President Rossen Plevneliev made in a press conference on the occasion of his first year since stepping into office. The Head of State once again condemned the “inadmissible act of violence.”
The President also pointed out that the bomb attack in Sarafovo in the summer and the assault against MRF leader are two events that marked the first year of his presidency and added that at the next sitting of the Consultative Council on National Security these topics would be given special consideration.
During his press conference the president also commented on the relations between Bulgaria and Macedonia. He said Sofia supported EU enlargement on the Balkans but criteria must be first met. He added that the joint Bulgarian-Macedonian declaration on good neighbor relations signed in 1999 has been neglected by Skopje for the past 13 years.
