US Ambassador to Bulgaria HE Marcie Reis underlined in an interview for the BNR on the Ukrainian events that a diplomatic solution is being sought. Discussions are necessary on the economic sanctions imposed, the shared responsibility about those and on how they should be intelligently implemented. “Whatever we do, it should sting Russia, not you,” the ambassador underlined. Asked whether the USA is ready to provide military assistance to Bulgaria in case it is requested, Mrs. Reis explained that the US support for all partners within the Alliance is resolute and it is ready to take into consideration the needs of each partner. Answering the question whether Bulgaria needed such support today, according to the USA, Mrs. Reis explained: “The Supreme Allied Commander was asked by NATO to judge this and it will happen. This is the right way for the Alliance to determine its own needs in terms of preparation, military exercises etc.”
