USA Vice President Joseph Biden and Bulgaria’s President Rossen Plevneliev held a telephone conversation where they voiced their support towards the preservation of Ukraine’s integrity, ITAR-TASS informed, based on information from the White House. Both leaders discussed the alarming situation in Eastern Ukraine and promised to provide a full support for the development of Ukraine as an independent, united and democratic state, representatives of the White House announced. Biden and Plevneliev underlined that Russia must undertake immediate measures aimed at removing the tension in Eastern Ukraine. According to the White House, Biden has assured Plevneliev that the USA was fully committed to the joint defense of its NATO allies. US Vice President Joseph Biden thanked Plevneliev for Bulgaria's contribution to the transatlantic partnership. Rossen Plevneliev and Joe Biden have also discussed the situation in Southeast Europe and the efforts aimed at strengthening the foundations of the democratic country-the law supremacy, the independence of the media, the market economy and working institutions. During the conversation President Plevneliev pointed to the steps Bulgaria has already made towards energy diversification.
