Maintaining law and order during the upcoming elections was a topic discussed at a national meeting of the leadership of the Bulgarian Interior Ministry in the capital city, attended by Prime Minister Professor Georgi Bliznashki. A national headquarters with representatives from the prosecution, the Interior Ministry and the Agency for National Security, as well as the Public Council will work in order for the elections to take place normally. Interior Minister Yordan Bakalov said that checks are made related to people who have been reportedly involved in buying and selling of votes since 2009. Authorities will be looking whether they continue to be involved in such activities, the minister said and added about 11,500 police officers will be providing security during the elections.
