UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova has condemned the "barbaric destruction" of cultural heritage in Iraq, where jihadists have destroyed the ancient sites in areas under their control. "We cannot accept that this treasure, this heritage of humanity, would be destroyed in the most barbaric way.
