Bulgaria once again with lowest consumption and lowest GDP in EU

For yet another year, Eurostat reported that Bulgaria is the country with the lowest consumption and the lowest Gross Domestic Product /GDP/ per capita in the EU. In 2013 the individual consumption of goods and services in the country was 49 per cent of the EU average, or one percent down in comparison to the previous year. The citizens of Luxembourg top the consumption chart - 35 per cent above the average, followed by Germany, Austria, Denmark and Finland. GDP per capita in Bulgaria last year was 45% of the EU average. GDP per capita in Luxembourg was nearly 6 times that of Bulgaria, and in Germany and Austria - nearly three times higher than the level in Bulgaria.
