Plovdiv attracts growing number of tourists, being European Capital of Culture

The number of foreign tourists, who visited Plovdiv last year, was more than 30 percent up on the previous one. That is how the European Capital of Culture 2019 has been registering a sustainable growth, regarding incomes from tourism for a third year in a row. According to statistical data Plovdiv outran all Bulgarian cities and towns under that criterion last year, as it was visited by some 600,000 tourists. The European Capital of Culture title has contributed a lot to the popularization of Plovdiv and the tourist flow is to increase more in the future, local administration representatives hope.
