MPs table in Parliament changes in the Constitution

Photo: BGNES

Changes in the Constitution were tables in Parliament’s office. The draft is signed by 132 MPs from GERB, the Reformist Bloc, the Patriotic Front and eight MPs from Bulgarian Democratic Center. The draft envisages possibilities for the Prosecutor General to present reports on the implementation of the law and the results against crime, which Parliament should hear and endorse. The Supreme Judicial Council will be divided in two colleges – a judiciary one and one dealing with prosecution & investigation. The aim of the changes is to alter the model of management of the court and the prosecution office. Bulgaria’s Constitution was adopted by the Grand National Assembly in 1991. It has been altered four times since then.
