First case of West Nile virus encephalitis infection in Bulgaria

Doctors in Bulgaria have proven the first case of West Nile virus encephalitis (WNE) infection transmitted locally.The infection was found in a 7-year-old kid bitten by a mosquito in a Sofia Park, the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases reports. The child was with a headache, temperature of 39 degrees, muscle aches, fatigue and a fine rash. The child's family requested examination and the condition was diagnosed on time.
