Good temporary result in judicial system reform

Photo: BGNES

Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov termed “an exceptionally good temporary result” what was termed “a historic compromise” on judicial system reform. Ivanov said it was a good achievement because the kernel of the reform motion had been preserved, and added it was only a temporary result because between the first and second reading of the bill of amendments to the Constitution some of the rejected procedures could be restored. According to the Justice Minister, the two guilds – of prosecutors and judges, will not be capsulated because the so-called parliamentary component is preserved, as well as the election of six prosecutors and five judges to the Supreme Judicial Council by the National Assembly.
