For the first time ever, books by Bulgarian writers have occupied the first three notches of the 2015 bestselling list of Helikon chain of bookstores. Two of the authors are loved by teenagers. There are five Bulgarians in the Top 10 suggesting keener interest in Bulgarian literature. Vlogger Emil Conrad tops the bestselling list with 10,000 sold copies of his book The Things NOT Taught at School and its sequel. In February he broke records after 3000 of his fans waited for hours in the cold outside a Helikon bookstore. Further on Emil Conrad held two successful national tours. Third on the chart is another favorite of teenagers - Nedelcho Bogdanov with his first game-book Bulgar. He had become famous with his cartoons of the same name which he adapted for a book format jointly with Bogdan Russev. The historical novel Kalunya-Kalya by late Georgi Bozhinov ranks second. The novel written in the 1980s but published for the first time only recently, revisits events in 1876. The tourist guide 101 Detours is fifth offering off-the-beaten-track must-visit places across Bulgaria. Its authors are Ivan Mihalev and Elina Tsankova. The book also offers nice photographs.
