Bulgarian Muslims reelected Mustafa Hadzhi grand mufti at a National Muslim conference held in Sofia today. The 976 delegates who had come from all over the country to represent close to 1 million Bulgarian Muslims reelected Hadzhi unanimously. Supreme Muslim Council chairman Vedat Ahmed was also reelected, again unanimously.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms leadership as well as the party’s former leader Lyutvi Mestan, representatives of the Muslim communities in other Balkan countries, of the Bulgarian Christian Orthodox church, ambassadors and politicians.
