The genres that open the chart correspond to the music streams in the upper right hand corner of Radio Bulgaria's website. The selection of pieces is by the authors of the respective streams.
So, here are the songs you are invited to vote for until 15 August:
Entry No 1 is for Ivelina Dimova, a famous Dobrudja singer of the youngest generation. Together with Petar Milanov, guitar, she presents a modern rendition of the famed Tudoro Le /Hey, Tudoro/ a song featured in Ivelina’s 2015 album Voice of Dobrudja, an album played often on the Folklore Music Channel.
Entry No. 2 - Chichovite Konye /Uncle’s Horses/ performed by the Female Folklore Group from Buhovo (a residential area of Sofia) is a classic of authentic folklore. The recording is from the 1986 Koprivshtitsa National Folklore Festival. It is a model for many music formations from Bulgaria and abroad and like any masterpiece is in a class of its own.
Song No. 3 – Na Polugar /In the Field/ is performed by renowned piper Stoyan Velichkov from the region of Strandja /1930 – 2008/ with the Bulgarian National Radio Folk Music Orchestra, arranged and conducted by Kosta Kolev, 1971. The instrumentalist from the Burgas village of Zidarovo is still a paragon when it comes to the authenticity and purity of sound of the Strandja-Thracian kaval (shepherd’s pipe).
Good luck in voting!
