Bulgaria rail transport one of most open for competition in Europe

The European Commission has carried a report about the state of transport in the European Union in 2016 in the diversity of its aspects. According to the survey the railway freight transport market in Bulgaria is one of the most open for competition: the competitors of the main operator have a market share of 48.8 percent, the third largest share across EU. The evaluations of the Bulgarian railway infrastructure are relatively low for all models of transport however with a slightly positive outlook. The number of road accidents with fatalities per capita is the highest in Europe and has seen growth in the last two years.
