Celebrating its 80th anniversary, Radio Bulgaria welcomes you to monthly voting for music from Bulgaria. Lots will be drawn to select the names of the winners - people who have guessed the winning song or tune - and three of them are going to win CDs with music in the respective genre. To vote, please send us an e-mail at english@bnr.bg. Results are announced on or around the 15th of every month.

The Folklore music channel of the BNR will mark its 3rd anniversary with a concert at Studio 1 of the media on November 20 with numerous participants from across Bulgaria. Formations from the villages of Breznitsa, Ablanitsa, Seydol, from the town of Hadjidimovo, also the world famous Bistritsa Babi and many others will participate in the event with their original folklore.

We have prepared for you this month famous vocals and bands from different Bulgarian folklore regions.

Az Ne Sam Doshal, Kalino /I Didn’t Come, Kalino/ in the rendition of Nedyalka Keranova and the Folklore Music Orchestra of the BNR, conducted by famous Kosta Kolev who is also the song’s composer and arranger. Nedyalka Keranova is a famous Thracian and top wedding singer. She works for a Plovdiv folklore ensemble, also with the Filip Kutev one and with the popular Lenovska and Konushenska wedding bands. Other famous songs of hers include Kato Sedish Kino, Kinche /As You Sit, Kino, Kinche/, Karadzha Duma Usanki /Karadzha Told Usanki/ etc. Nedyalka Keranova is also known as the Bulgarian Ella Fitzgerald among musicians.

Mori Tragnal Yunak /A Hero Sets Off/ - a famous piece of the Folklore Music Band from the village of Ablanitsa, the Hadjidimovo Municipality of the Blagoevgrad District. The mixed amateur band with the Prosveta 1940 Community Center will perform monophonic songs, typical for Bulgarian Muslims on November 20, when the concert for the 3rd anniversary of the Folklore Channel will take place.

The organized singing and dancing art in the village was founded in 1954/55 with the establishment of a respective formation. Atem Imamov, Murad Metushev, Nedjip Havalyov, Amet Kavazov and others participated in the male group. They won a series of awards at festivals like Pirin Pee, Koprivshtitsa, Omurtag and others. The band had numerous participations abroad and in the summer of 2016 they visited the festival in the Montenegrin town of Ulcinj.

Aria of the Rhodopes is included in the 2014 Iskam Da Kaja /I Want to Say/ album of Nedyalko Nedyalkov. The Symphonic Orchestra of the BNR and Nedyalko Nedyalkov work together and Georgi Andreev is the composer. The latest suggestion is lighter and more modern, on the edge between different styles, but the shepherd’s flute of Nedyalko Nedyalkov has gone beyond any genre and style determined for a long time.

The concert will be directly broadcast online via the official YouTube channel of the Binar Radio, starting as of 1 pm GMT on November 20.
