European festival to open in Vancouver

Today, the 20th edition of the annual European Festival opens in the Canadian town of Vancouver. More than 30 European countries, including Bulgaria Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Albania, Armenia, Ukraine, Moldova and Turkey. The festival takes place on 27 and 28 May.

The Vancouver European Festival opens with a 45-minute presentation of the Bulgarian colorful folklore heritage with performances of Kitka, Sofia and Spring groups. The presentation will end with a horo chain dance in which the audience will be invited to join in.

Within the two-day event at Swangard Stadium each country will display its culture at specially-designed stands. A fair of flags will gather all the participants in the event.
