Copies of icons from Macedonia will become part of the exposition of the National Museum of History, announced the museum’s director, Professor Bozhidar Dimitrov. The icons are from the Revival Period. One of them shows St. St. Cyril and Methodius. The inscription above their heads reads: Bulgarian enlighteners. Those who wrote the Bulgarian script. They feast is May 11”. The second icon shows their deciples and followers, known as “The Seven Saints”. On this icon the saints are actually nine. The original seven are: Saint Climent, Naum, Angelarii, Sava, Gorazd, Cyril and Methodius. On this icon we have in addition St. Erasio and St. Ivan Vladimir, son-ion-law of King Samuil. Above the heads of the saints stands the inscription “The seven saints – Bulgarian enlighteners”. Photo: BTA
