Bulgaria among EFSI biggest beneficiaries

European Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen in charge of jobs, growth, investment and competitiveness is currently on a visit to Bulgaria. Joining an international conference about the challenges to the cohesion policy of the European Union the guest said that Bulgaria was among the countries receiving the biggest percentage of financing from the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), and that by the end of June 2017 this country had received roughly 1.1 billion euro. Jyrki Katainen explained that the Cohesion Fund planned to invest in Bulgaria 6 billion euro for projects in transport, science, education and regional growth. Regarding Bulgaria’s forthcoming EU Presidency, Katainen remarked that it should give an impetus to work on the next EU financial framework.
