NFSB activist accused of human trafficking steps down

Aneliya Veleva, an activist from the National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria (NFSB) that is part of the government, who was arrested on charges of human trafficking, has left the party. Mrs Veleva was detained together with five other people on Trakiya Motorway in an attempt to transport five illegal immigrants from the Turkish border to Sofia. According to the prosecutor’s office Veleva was in the pilot car which had to watch out for police guards on the road. Later she was released from custody over lack of explicit evidence about her involvement in a criminal group. The case has prompted a row entailing from the strongly anti-migrant rhetoric of NFSB.
