Photo: banskojazzfest.com

The second day program of the XX International Jazz Festival in the Bulgarian mountain resort of Bansko opens with a concert of Uros Peric & The Divettes (Slоvenia) & The Mambo Stars Band (Serbia). This is a unique group whose leader is Uros Peric, composer, singer and pianist influenced by Ray Charles, Nat King Cole and Quincy Jones.

This is followed by a concert of Bulgarian jazz diva Kamelia Todorova with the JP Trio (Jivko Petrov, piano, Veselin Veselinov-Eko, double bass, and Dimitar Semov, percussion). Over time Kamelia Todorova has teamed up with the country’s leading jazz musicians and this time makes no exception.

More from the Bankso Jazz festival program on 6 August:

Spaghetti Swing, Italy: Diva Parmigiano, Linda Gingerino – Naughty Girl, Don Gigino Sidero – piano with tricks, Riccardo “Double” Paio – explosions, Maurizio Siciliano – an acrobatic chef. The band is full of energy and goes for some fresh humor to give a show focused on Italian swing music which will be garnered with colorful costumes and culinary experiments performed by an acrobatic chef on stage.

Side Steps Quintet, Germany: the members of the German quintet say they present inter-space pop-jazz and a modern sound – a good finale of the second night at the jazz festival in Bansko.
