For the first time in the last 40 years, National Theater Ivan Vazov is to meet actors and audience with a fully refurbished hall. The seats are renewed both in the big hall and the chamber hall, as well as the gold plated ornaments and the candelabra in the main hall. The first park entitled “Bulgaria in miniatures” is to open in Veliko Tarnovo. The unveiling is planned for Independence Day – September 22. On an area of 1.25 hectares there will be 45 models of buildings emblematic for Bulgarian history, made in different ratios. The park is placed in the locality of Frenkhissar, at the foot of the Tsarevets Hill. The initiative for the making of such a park came from a group of Ukrainian investors.  Photo: BTA

The Bulgare folk ensemble presented its show entitled “The Eighth Wonder” on stage the summer theater in the Black Sea city of Burgas. The event mars the 15th anniversary of the troop. This is the fourth author’s project of the ensemble. In the course of its 15 years’ history Bulgare have performed 2000 shows on stages in 23 countries across Europe. Photo: BTA

Watermelon honey (Madjun) is cooked in the village of Smilets, near the town of Silistra. In order to prepare that kind of jam, watermelons are scraped, the content is cooked until obtaining the juice. Then it is filtered to remove the seeds and then it is cooked again until it grows thicker. According to the mayor of the village Pavlina Romanova, the watermelon honey was used in the past as a sweetener instead of sugar. It can be consumed by people suffering from diabetes as well.
