Minister of Culture Boil Banov got acquainted at the Black Sea town of Burgas with the sensational discoveries of the Havila Subsea exploratory ship. The team of world famous marine and underwater scientists has returned from the three-year-long Black Sea MAP expedition. This is one of the largest underwater archaeology projects, organized so far, aiming at the research of the Black Sea changes since ancient times. 60 shipwrecks have been found, spanning over a period of 2,500 years with amphoras and other different precious artifacts inside. There is an idea for the establishment of a Museum of Underwater Archaeology on the St. St. Kirik and Yulita Island near Sozopol, where some of the expedition’s findings may find their place.
