The meeting of the President's National Security Consultative Board, dedicated to the fight against corruption, has ended. The participants agreed on the main working paths in this area. They agreed on the opinion that the fight against high-level corruption is has low success because of imperfections in legislation, institutional framework and the lack of a single structure with clear powers and capacity to fight corruption effectively. However, no agreement has been reached on the role and functions of the future anti-corruption body, its oversight and the appointment of its head. These issues will be decided by the National Assembly. The Council decided that a special law is needed to regulate both the prevention and the timely disclosure of high-level corruption, President Rumen Radev added.
