In a video connection with citizens via Facebook, Bulgarian Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov said that in case construction of a second cable car in the ski zone of the resort of Bansko in Pirin Mountain began, he would demand a ban on access to the ski zone by car.

The new facilities in the Bansko ski zone will go through mandatory assessment of the impact on the natural environment, Dimov also said. He remarked that apart from sports infrastructure, construction of hotels and spa facilities would not be allowed in the Pirin nature park.

Balance will be sought between the region’s economic development and the protection of the environment, Minister Neno Dimov vowed.
