Former intelligence chief sentenced to 15 years in prison

General Prosecutor Spokesperson, Rumyana Arnaudova, has announced that former intelligence chief, Gen. Kircho Kirov was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for embezzlement that took place in the period 2007-2011.

Much of the information on the case is secret and cannot be disclosed, it was reported. The indictment was filed in the Sofia Military Court in the spring of 2017.

According to the accusation, in cahoots with his subordinate, Kirov embezzled more than 2.5 million euro from the budget.
