Bulgaria recycles close to 1/3 of waste

The past five years have seen an increase in the share of recycled waste in Bulgaria.

In 2016, about 917,000 tons of household waste or 32% of the total amount was recycled.

The figures were quoted by Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Nikolay Kanchev during a roundtable “Circular economy – recycling options” held in Sofia.

Bulgaria is in the EU’s Top 3 in effectiveness of recycling lead accumulator batteries.
