“Bulgaria is violating community legislation because it has not protected traditional products like Bulgarian yoghurt and white brine cheese in the European register of quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs,” said for the BNR MEP Momchil Nekov. There are only two Bulgarian products on the register – rose oil and of Gornooryahovski Sudzhuk sausages. By way of comparison – Italy has protected over 300 products, whereas Bulgarian yoghurt may lose its protection as a traditional product.
