On May 18 we mark 112 years since the building of Port Varna on the Black Sea. The date is not a random choice. This is the name day of the Knyaz. As many as 23 battle and passenger ships took part in the opening ceremony. There were also guests ships from Rumania, Italy, Germany, Austro-Hungary, Greece as well as battleships of the Russian imperial fleet and more than 300 official guests. The memorable opening of the port was announced with 21 cannon salutes by the foreign military vessels and the shore artillery. Photo: BGNES

The exhibition of Regional History Museum – Vidin entitled “Nine shirts of silk, the tenth – of dry gold” shows traditional folklore costumes from the region of Vidin, northwestern Bulgaria. The exposition is launched on the occasion of May 18 – International Museum Day. The collection is on display in Vidin’s museum on the premises of the fortress on the Danube River, also known as the cross-shaped fort.
