In a speech at the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs (COSAC) of the EU national parliaments, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has suggested the idea of an immediate prevention of illegal migration including closing all external borders of the EU and access only via border checkpoints.

“Unlike the United States and Canada where this is exactly the case, Europe today has become an open yard,” Borissov has said. “A prime task should be to stop the inflow of migrants, make sure that rules are observed strictly and send back home anybody who breaks them,” the Bulgarian premier has pointed out.
