On June 24, Bulgarians mark Enyovden - a holiday of the sun, herbs and water. The traditions associated with Enyovden come to life every year in the open-air “Etar” ethnographic museum near Gabrovo. Preparations started a few days ago with a workshop for making of wreaths and herb bracelets. The Enyovden wreath is so big that a man can easily pass through it. It is made around a green mulberry, apple or pear twig and tied with red thread. Herbs part of the wreath must be seventy-seven-and-a-half, as this is said to be the number of diseases on earth. The half is for the so-called "unknown disease." It is believed that if one goes through the Enyovden wreath, they would not get ill. The most beautiful wreaths can be seen in a special exhibition on display at the Etar. Unmarried girls can learn to twist herb bracelets in order to attract the lad they want. In them, in addition to the herbs for health, herbs that are believed to attract love are added such as geum, Clematis vitalba, and wild pansy.

Enyovden is also marked as a professional holiday of pharmacists in Bulgaria.
