Airlines shall have to provide to the State Agency for National Security (SANS) booking data of passengers and crews of transport aircraft. This is part of the final changes to the SANS Act passed by parliament.
Under the amendments the national unit for processing of passenger information at SANS set up in 2017 shall carry out evaluation of passengers and the crew in a bid to prevent possible terrorist attacks. Data will be kept for a period of five years, not for six months as is the case now.
