Handwritten messages of the European leaders from their informal dinner during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union have become part of the exhibition Foe/Friend of the National Museum of Military History in Sofia.
Presenting the complex knot of relations on the international political scene following Bulgaria’s liberation in 1878, the exhibition outlines the goals, ambitions and ideals that Bulgaria used as the basis to find its partners, and create its foes, the Museum has said.
Providing a chronology of the dividing lines between countries in the past and telling the story of war as an emanation of division, the exhibition shows how one of the core goals of the European Union is being implemented today – notably, guaranteeing lasting peace after World War 2, as well as the Bulgarian input into creating a community of shared values.
