Macedonia’s Prime Minister apologizes to Bulgarians for a comment

On his Facebook page, Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev has apologized to "Bulgarian friends and brothers" for a comment he made in a TV interview in which he described the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie uprising as Macedonian. Justifying his words as an act of "carelessness" and "mistake", Zaev reminded that for more than a year now, Macedonia and Bulgaria have several times celebrated common events in their history together. The Macedonian Prime Minister's statement came just a day after his Bulgarian counterpart, Boyko Borisov, said regarding Zaev’s television commentary that "when the time comes for Bulgaria to state its position on Macedonia's accession to the EU, it will take those words into account and make its decision duly".
