Ivan Grancharov from the Bulgarian Association of Dairy Processors has warned that in the last few years Bulgarians have been increasingly consuming products containing palm oil. A total of 12 thousand tonnes of palm oil have been consumed in the form of cheese last year, he commented. In Bulgaria, there are over 260 dairies, as some 30 to 40 of them are using vegetable oil, Grancharov said. The expert recalled that a regulation has been enacted that prohibits the production of imitation products and the use of palm oil in dairy products in dairies. Therefore, the lowest real price of cheese is 5.50 leva and cheese of good quality costs at least 9 leva.
