Day of Salvation marked in Sofia

With a minute of silence and the wail of sirens in front of the Monument to Medics who lost their lives in wars, the Day of Salvation was marked in the yard of the Military Medical Academy in Sofia. On this day, Bulgarians pay respect to the feat of more than 130 doctors and nurses, policemen, volunteers and citizens, who sacrificed themselves in order to save the life of others.

At the ceremony held for the 14th consecutive year, the head of the Military Medical Academy, General Professor Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, recalled that this country is currently participating in three military missions abroad - in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mali, and that Bulgarian doctors there save lives on a daily basis.
