The Bulgarian Association of Software Companies, BASSCOM, is launching an initiative called “ZAvrushtaneto”, (To Return), which addresses the problem of the shortage of qualified staff in Bulgaria.

The Association launched a survey among young Bulgarians living abroad, in which they are able to give their plans and the reasons why they emigrated, explain what they are currently doing and what could prompt them to return to Bulgaria. Over the first 10 days since the survey was posted over 200,000 Bulgarians living outside the country have filled it in.

According to a BASSCOM analysis education and work experience in other countries is an asset in finding a job in Bulgaria, especially in export oriented industries like the software industry. The sector is able to offer a very good standard of living, and is sufficiently competitive by offering good conditions that could entice young people to come back to Bulgaria. The “To Return” initiative is supported by the Ministry of Economy, the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad and the Tuk-Tam (Here-There) foundation. The survey is valid until 25 September, 2018.
