Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has said that Sofia is going to launch a bid to host the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics. The decision is the result of his talks with the President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach who is on a visit to Sofia.

Thomas Bach has pointed to the fact that currently Bulgaria is hosting three world championships in Olympic sports which might even turn out to be an Olympic record. He has added that this has prompted him to encourage Sofia to proceed to a next stage and bid for Winter Olympics.

Boyko Borissov has said that he would feel more confident in a possible successful bid provided before that Bulgaria has hosted Winter Youth Olympics.
