Two journalists – a Bulgarian and a Romanian – Dimitar Stoyanov and Attila Biro, have been detained by the police in the city of Pernik, Western Bulgaria, during a joint report in connection with an investigation into corruption linked to a European programme.
The news was reported late last night on the Facebook page of the investigative website Биволъ (Bivol). They have been detained by the Interior Ministry after a signal they filed over actions aimed at concealing corruption – destroying public procurement materials.
After spending the night handcuffed and with their mobile phones taken away until 4 AM, the two journalists were released to go home.
