A unique object – a ceramic head of the Mother-goddess was unearthed near the village of Mayor Uzunovo, Vidin region. The discovery was made during archeological excavations at the site of an early Neolithic settlement by a team headed by Georgi Ganetsovski. Fragments from ceramic labrets, ceramic disks, flint instruments, a cut stone cone were found in a ritual chamber, in a place used as a home altar.  Photos: BTA

Two women and a man from a noble family, buried with offering objects for life after death, were unearthed by archeologists in Sozopol, on the Black Sea coast. The largest family tomb found so far during the excavations on the Apollonia necropolis was unearthed by archeologists within a private property situated on the northern slope of the Budjaka locality, south of Sozopol. The discovery is a sensation and it is the deed of a team headed by Dr. Teodora Bogdanova, Dimitar Nedev and Alexander Baralis. The Children’s Radio Choir of the Bulgarian National Radio gave a concert in the ceremony hall of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. The event is dedicated to the 29th edition of the Days of Japanese Culture in Sofia.
