The members of the crew of the Navigation Maritime Bulgare’s bulk carrier Oborishte, with captain Nikolay Baltadjiev and chief engineer officer Kaloyan Tuykov, were the first to ring in the New Year.

This took place in the Russian port of Murmansk three hours before we, here in Bulgaria, popped open the champagne.

The last to say goodbye to 2018 was the crew of the bulk carrier Murgash, with captain Stoyan Atanassov and chief engineer officer Valentin Gulpa, which is in the Mexican port of Topolobampo in the Pacific.

Closest to Bulgaria on New Year’s Eve was the crew of the Heroes of Sevastopol ferry which was, at the time, en route in the Black Sea, from Chornomorsk in the Ukraine to Poti in Georgia.
