Bulgaria marks 15 years since it joined NATO with a cultural programme

The 15th anniversary of Bulgaria’s membership of NATO and the 70th anniversary since the North Atlantic Treaty Organization was founded will be marked with a documentary, public lectures and an exhibition of photographs mounted on the bridge next to the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.

The documentary traces the process since the start of preparations for this country’s membership of the organization, down to its present commitments as a member of NATO. The national plan for the celebrations includes a Bulgarian art project at the NATO headquarters, symbolizing Bulgaria’s road to Euro-Atlantic integration and the country’s accession to the organization.

Another highlight is the concert by the Bulgarian Guards Brass Band and the Armed Forces Ensemble. Sofia is also to play host to an international high-level conference dedicated to Bulgaria’s achievements as a member of NATO, and the future of the organization.
