A young bird from the critically endangered specie Northern bald ibis, is the newest patient of the Wild Animals Rescue Center of the environmental organization “Green Balkans” I the Bulgarian city of Stara Zagora. The bird was found by a group of military not far from the town of Karlovo. It was very weak, dehydrated and frozen feet. The Bulgarian veterinaries immediately started treatment and contacted the Rosegg Zoo in Austria, since the bird is part of a pilot project for the reviving of the specie in Europe, the zoo being partner under that project.  Photo: greenbalkans.org


A center for video-monitoring in real time was opened in the building of Haskovo Municipality. For the time being the number of cameras connected to the center is 84 but the network is to expand. The center will be used jointly with the department of the Ministry of the Interior. Photo: BTA
