Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha's relatives admit privatized “royal” forests to be state owned

Six Dukes of the Württemberg dynasty, heirs of King Ferdinand, have reached an agreement with Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture Roumen Porozhanov by virtue of which they withdrew from the case their relative and ex-Prime Minister of Bulgaria Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha leads for the ownership of 1650 hectares of forests in the Rila Mountains. Through the agreement, the Dukes recognize the so-called "royal forests", restituted to Ferdinand's heirs in the period between 2003 and 2005, to be state-owned. Restitution is considered controversial as it was completed on the basis of a Constitutional Court ruling form 1998 declaring a law of 1947 to deprive the former kings and their heirs of property as unconstitutional. Today, the state wants the restituted forests back. Following the withdrawal of the Dukes from the case, participants in the trial remain Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and his sister Maria-Luisa, who possess the forests. Participants in the case are also three companies to which the former prime minister and his sister were selling land.
