The legend of Bulgarian football Krasimir Balakov is the new coach of the national team.

His contract starts on 1 June and ends on 31 October 2021 after the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

“This is a big challenge, there is nothing bigger than being coach of the national team. I can promise you that together with my team we shall step solidly on everything done so far by coach Petar Hubchev and build upon it, we shall do our very best so Bulgaria qualifies for  UEFA Euro 2020. If that does not happen, because we are not wizards, there will be other qualifiers,” Balakov said.
