Minister for Environment and Water Neno Dimov signed, in Bucharest, a memorandum of cooperation between Bulgaria and Romania for improving the environment of the Black Sea and the River Danube by restricting plastic pollution of water.

In the sphere of biodiversity the efforts are aimed at a coordinated use and administration of wetlands and the restoration of the shared sturgeon population in the Danube and the northwestern portion of the Black Sea. The memorandum also envisages cooperation aimed at reducing air pollution from the used cars coming into the two countries, and an exchange of best practices in the administration of NATURA 2000 cross-border sites.
