Dramatic events and humanity on display at Lovers’ Bridge

An exciting exhibition can be seen in Sofia, within the framework of the Photofabrika Festival. It includes 58 photos by 19 authors worldwide, with published photobooks by PhotoEvidence Press. This publishing house was founded in 2010 by Bulgarian photojournalist Svetlana Bahchevanova and David Stuart/. To date, PhotoEvidence has published 22 books that focus public attention on human rights violations, oppression, and crimes against the person. Several of them have been ranked for the best photobooks by prestigious editions like Times, The New York Times, Smithsonian magazine, and others.

How do you shoot in areas of conflict and fear that we call "hot spots on the planet"? "You just go there and you do not have to think for a second that you know everything and that you are accustomed to the situation. This is what preserves you,” Svetlana Bahchevanova says in her interview.

The images – bilingual panels in large format – are on display until June 10 on the Lovers’ Bridge near the National Palace of Culture downtown Sofia. After that PhotoEvidence collections will be shown for a month in Sofia, on the fences of three capital city schools and the Embassy of Slovakia.
