Stefka Kostadinova, President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee has met with the President of the International Olympic Committee, IOC, Thomas Bach, to discuss Bulgaria’s bid to host the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics.
Stefka Kostadinova was accompanied in Lausanne by the President of the Bulgarian Ski Federation Tseko Minev. Thomas Bach explained that the IOC will adapt any city to the conditions needed to fulfill this highly responsible task. An IOC team will get acquainted with the capacity of Sofia and Mount Vitosha to host such an important forum. The government and PM Boyko Borissov assumed the commitment to do everything necvessary so that Bulgaria may be a viable candidate for hosting the games. Sofia has come close to hosting winter Olympics twice but lost – to Albertville in 1992 and to Lillehammer in 1994.
