A global study on the attitude to vaccinations among 140,000 respondents across more than 140 countries shows a growing distrust of vaccines.
Data for Bulgaria show that only 40 percent of respondents consider vaccines to be safe. 15 percent hold the opposite view, and 35 percent consider them neither safe or unsafe, 10 percent cannot say. 57 percent of Bulgarians say that vaccines are effective, 7 percent reject them, 71 percent believe vaccines are important for children. 96 percent of parents in Bulgaria say their children have been vaccinated. On the whole, confidence in vaccines in Bulgaria is lower than the average for Eastern Europe. Confidence in the safety of vaccines is highest in South Asia and Eastern Africa and lowest in Europe.
